CARE IN TIME OF NEED

Bereavement - This ministry assists the bereaved family in all aspects of planning the vigil service and funeral liturgy for their loved one.

Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers to the Sick and Elderly Take communion to homes every Friday morning for parishioners who are unable to attend mass. Also provide a communion prayer service at Magnolia Gardens Convalescent Hospital on Sundays.           Catherine Wallace     818-886-6656      

Crisis Counseling Referral Service - Those in crisis and in need of counseling may call the Parish Office for referrals.

Families Anonymous - A 12-step program for the family and friends of people with a substance abuse problem. Meet Friday evenings.

O.A.S.I.S. - Catholic Charities' Older Adult Services and Intervention System.  Parish teams give service and support to seniors who need help. The program helps seniors remain independent and connected to our community.

SVDP (St. Vincent DePaul) ministry - Inspired by Gospel Values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international lay organization of women and men established in Paris in 1833.  The Society offers direct, tangible assistance (food, clothing, and household necessities), financial help, and emotional and spiritual support, through one-on-one interaction to individual in need.  Call: 818-349-1500 x149.  Home Pick-up: 800-974-3571. Email

  
PRAYER & LIFE LONG LEARNING

OLL Prayer Group - A Catholic Charismatic Prayer Group open to everyone.  Meets Mondays 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Moran Center.  Nagi Zaki 818-472-1335.  Email

Bible Study - A multi-week program that develops a greater understanding of Scripture.

Perpetual Adoration Chapel - A quiet, intimate place where you may give praise to God through Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and where you may pray and listen to His message through His word.  Come and Adore the Blessed Sacrament, the living presence of Jesus!  Become a committed Adorer for 1 hour each week or come for short visits.  Enter the chapel from Kinzie St. off Reseda Blvd.

Parish Pastoral Council - Investigates and considers matters relating to pastoral activity and formulates conclusions concerning them.  Conclusions are presented as recommendation to the Pastor.  Members serve three year.  Nominations are conducted in the spring.

Finance Council - Provides sound advice and counsel to the Pastor, in order to maintain the financial stability of the Parish and School.  Council meets at least four times a year to review the financial condition of the Parish and School, consider key decisions that will have a significant impact, and make recommendations to the Pastor.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word - Breaks open the Word for children ages 6-12 during the 9:00 a.m. Sunday mass.  The approach is child-friendly so the Word comes alive and is integrated into their lives.  Youth lectors and adult leaders needed.

Altar Servers - Altar servers assist the priest during mass and other liturgical celebrations. Open to parish boys and girls in the fifth grade through high school that have received First Holy Communion.  Training classes held in fall.  Adult volunteers assist in training.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist - Assist at parish liturgies in the distribution of the Blessed Sacrament.  Open to all confirmed parishioners who have successfully completed the parish training.

Ushers - Provide a welcoming environment to all who enter God’s church.  Assist in offertory and other aspects of the liturgy as needed.

Liturgy Committee - Comprised of liturgy leadership, coordinates and/or plans all liturgical events within the parish.

Environment - The sub-committee, under the guidance of the Liturgy Committee,  coordinates, plans and dresses the environment in the church, including floral arrangements, for each liturgical season and special feast days.  Email

Lectors - Proclaims scripture at masses and liturgical events throughout the church year. Lector certification required.   Email

Preparation of the Altar - Placing the corporal, missal, presider’s chalice, and cups on the altar at weekend masses and special liturgies. Families and individuals are needed at all masses.

Sacristans of the Altar - Preparing, purifying and storing of ceremonial vessels and items supporting Sunday Eucharist, as well as setting-up for assigned Sunday liturgies.

Giving Tree (Christmas) - During Advent season we collect gifts and monetary donations to be distributed to needy families and various charitable organizations supported by the parish.

Together in Mission (TIM) - An Annual Archdiocesan Appeal that provides much needed financial support to parishes and school in underserved communities of the archdiocese of LA.

SFV Rescue Mission - Volunteers bring essential services and offer their time, talent and goodness of heart to SFV Rescue Mission outreach projects and help make a difference in the lives of the hurting and the homeless. Opportunities are on-going, year-round and constantly changing.

MEND (Meet Each Need with Dignity) - A multi-faceted social service agency in Pacoima. Volunteers needed in many services areas.  MEND barrel is located in the narthex for your much needed donations of non-perishable food.

Women's Council - A social, spiritual, and service organization for the women of the parish. Meets once a month Sept-June in Stroup Hall.  All women of the parish are encouraged to join.

Men's Club - A social organization open to all men of the parish providing various social programs and activities. Meetings held on the second Tuesday of the month, Sept-June, at 6:30 p.m. in Stroup Hall.

Forever Young Seniors Club - Provide a social and spiritual environment for the benefit of seniors. Meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month, Sept.-May, in the Moran Center after the 9:00 a.m. mass.

SafeGuard the Children - Provides ongoing support, education, and awareness with the goal to prevent child sexual abuse and to address children's safety in our parish, school, homes and community.

Theatre Repertoire of Our Lady of Lourdes (TROLL) - A repertoire group that stages an annual musical production providing the parish with quality theater and opportunity for family participation.  Parishioners are invited to participate in front and behind the curtain.
