November is traditionally celebrated in the Catholic Church as a month in which we remember in a special way, those of our loved ones who have “gone before us, marked with the sign of faith,” and indeed, all who have died. In the language of days past, November was celebrated as the “Month of the Holy Souls.” On Friday, we began this month-long memorial with our celebration of the Feast of All Saints. On Saturday, we commemorated the Feast of All the Faithful Departed, or the “Holy Souls,” as we once called this day.
